About me

Adetunji A. Adelakun is a United States-based Nigerian-Canadian technology entrepreneur. He is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Scantranx Technologies Inc., an award-winning retail technology company. His passion for the success of small and medium-sized (SMB) retailers led him to establish Scantranx to help independent businesses compete with large retail chains by delivering exceptional and distinctive customer experiences.

With over 15 years of experience as a software engineer across the United States, Canada, Austria, and Nigeria, Adetunji has led several successful technology projects in the financial services, retail, and e-commerce sectors. His work includes the deployment of mission-critical technology solutions for major financial institutions and telecommunications organizations in North America and Africa. These experiences inspired him to develop the Scantranx Retail Solution, a cloud-based omnichannel retail platform designed to help small and medium-sized retailers modernize operations and accelerate business growth.

The Scantranx solution has been recognized as a groundbreaking innovation in retail technology and has received several industry awards and recognitions. These include the Best Coronavirus Innovation Award (2021) at the Retail Technology Innovation Hub (RTIH) Awards in the United Kingdom and the Best Software Idea Award at Intel Developers Day Nigeria.

In recognition of his achievements in technology innovation and entrepreneurship, Adetunji was granted the United States EB-1A Extraordinary Ability Green Card by the U.S. government in 2024. He also obtained Canadian citizenship through the Government of Canada’s Startup Visa Program, an initiative designed to attract highly skilled entrepreneurs and startup founders with innovative business ideas.

Adetunji has been invited to speak at several technology and entrepreneurship conferences, including the International eCommerce and Omnichannel Transformation Conference and the Speaker Series Seminar at the International Business and Entrepreneurship Center (IBEC) of the University of New Brunswick, Canada. As a technology enthusiast and ecosystem contributor, he has also served as a judge and mentor at major hackathons, technology competitions, and startup events across the province of New Brunswick.

In 2020, Adetunji was the only entrepreneur from the province of New Brunswick selected to represent Canada at the G20 Young Entrepreneur Alliance (YEA) Summit hosted by Saudi Arabia. The G20 YEA is a global network of young entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship organizations that convenes annually ahead of the G20 Summit to promote policies supporting innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth across G20 member nations.

In recognition of his significant contributions to the field of computing and information technology, Adetunji was conferred the title of Fellow of the British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute for IT, in 2024. He is also a member of the Business Council for Innovation and Technology at the International Trade Council (ITC), USA.

Adetunji holds a Master of Science in Technology Commercialization (MSTC) from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Science in Mobile Computing from the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computing and Its Practice from The Open University in the United Kingdom. He also holds several professional certifications in information technology.

In his spare time, he enjoys watching and playing football, spending time with family, and grilling barbecue turkey wings.
